Rod Wave fans expressed deep concern for his well being on Saturday morning after the rapper dropped a new song and went ghost on social media.
People flooded social media with prayers for Rod and messages about mental health and suicide awareness after his newest song ‘Nirvana’ dropped on YouTube. While Rod Wave never explicitly said he had thoughts of taking his own life, the song’s lyrics implied there was a suicidal message to be heard.
“If you’re hearing this it’s too late,” the first line of the song says. “I’ve been writing this since Tuesday, today Friday that mean tomorrow’s doomsday. Tried to fight the pain but it are me alive. Sad to say I lost a battle against my mind.”
The song goes on to tell a story of a young man that lived out his wildest dreams, but lost an internal battle with himself.
“You should be happy for me homie no more sufferin’. We all got a day I guess we’ll see each other then. I hope that heaven’s real and one day we can reunite and don’t be crying for me, I lived. wonderful live. I went on tour and seen the world and met my fans. I can’t life, I wish I could that sh*t again. Made plenty money, wrote my will, my kids is good. Hopefully they don’t grow up so misunderstood.”
Fans of Rod Wave know him to be a star that doesn’t frequent social media, fans pointed out that he had completely deactivated his accounts amidst the song’s release.
