In the head-spinning age of multistep skin-care routines and mic-drop makeup launches, The One is a space for minimalists to sound off on the single beauty product that’s found a longtime spot in their carefully curated routines.
When Dani Kimiko Vincent went to school for pharmaceutical sciences and chemistry, she didn’t plan to enter the beauty industry. She’d chosen the field with the idea to establish a career in medicine. But while completing her studies, she transitioned towards makeup artistry, eventually working with celebrity clients like Sandra Oh—and honing her special focus on brows. With her beauty brand Kimiko, launched in 2010, she brought her expertise to a wider market.
Vincent believes that brows are the most impactful way to enhance your features. And there’s an art to getting the perfect shape: “The brow you’re destined to embrace should offer balance and harmony,” she says. But brows can’t truly take center stage without luminous skin, which is Vincent’s other beauty prerogative, especially when it comes to her own routine. “It all begins with amazing skin and amazing brows—everything else is just a bonus,” Vincent notes.
Her personal less-is-more approach centers around one restorative serum, Eighth Day’s Regenerative Serum, which she discovered at Violet Grey. It has since become a mainstay in her beauty arsenal—the first product she applies immediately after cleansing. “The first time I used it, I saw my inflamed skin calm down; I can’t make medical claims but it has even helped my dermatitis,” she recounts of the potent yet gentle lightweight formula powered by a proprietary blend of biopeptides, growth factors, and amino acids. “I kept using it and within the first week, I saw tightening around my neck and refined pores.” At 40, she’s thankful to have found a skin-care salve to heal and moisturize her sensitive, acne-prone skin. “My goal is to help master brows, and this helps master your skin.”
