Jeon Somi on How to Recreate Her ‘Anymore’ Music Video Look—From Depuffing Skin to Foolproof Eyeliner

“I like to explore with my skin care, so I really like using a lot of products,” says Jeon Somi of her beauty philosophy. The star singer begins with what she calls a “homemade nutrition pack”—a mixture of oatmeal, almond powder, and mushy banana—which she leaves on for 10 minutes followed by a mint polish to ease her morning puffiness.

In fact, depuffing is a central practice in her routine. After a hyaluronic acid serum and a sheet mask below her eyes, Somi reveals a plastic bag full of beauty tools for facial massage. “I love salty food so I have to use these.” She selects a gua sha with a small roller for the eye, then uses its various curves to massage her jawline, neckline, and contours of her face. “I think Korea is really about the gua sha these days,” she notes. “I always share my routine with my other K-pop idol friends. We’re all about depuff. We’re on camera a lot.” Because she has dry skin, Somi leans heavily into moisturizing products—opting for a toner and ampoule by Cosrx, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream to prep the skin, and a touch of lip balm.

Onto makeup, the 20-year-old lifts her brows into place with a gel, then blends a Huda Beauty foundation in with a sponge. “You don’t want to have dark circles when you’re on stage, so I’m really picky about [covering them], and under my nose gets red so I like to cover that up,” she says, reaching for a Stila color-correcting palette. “When I think of a look, I think about the character in the song. Somi in Anymore is heartbroken and is crazy over this guy. She doesn’t know what to do, so we wanted to give that dark theme,” she explains—an idea that prompted pink, smoky makeup.

She shapes her brows with a colored gel by KissMe, then fills in her waterline with a liner by the same brand. To smoke out her liner, she uses a small round brush paired with a shade from the Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Eyeshadow Palette: “I’m guiding my eye line to see if they’re the same. I doing it with eyeshadow first because I don’t trust myself using the liner right away. I know I’ll mess it up.” She likes to layer the eyeshadow and the liner, and adjusts the wing to complement her double eyelid. But her ultimate secret for the Anymore look? Using the shade Truffle from the Too Faced palette as a sort of lower lash liner. “The key for Anymore is to have long-shaped eyes and wide-shaped eyes.”
