The Matrix is back—and the film’s star, Carrie-Anne Moss, found the perfect dress to celebrate its return. For last night’s premiere of The Matrix Resurrections in San Francisco, Moss wore a custom pleated silk chiffon Oscar de la Renta gown and cape, taking the sleek, monochromatic style of her beloved character Trinity and lending it a glamorous twist. And here, the devil was truly in the details, courtesy of Moss’s stylist Sydney Lopez and designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia.

Look closer, and the dress featured embroidered green and silver sequins and threadwork, cleverly echoing the film’s famous “digital rain” opening sequence of scrolling green text. For the finishing touch, Moss and Lopez added a pair of bespoke Lillian Shalom earrings, crafted to form razor-sharp triangular pendants. It was enough to make even the most stylish of sci-fi superheroes jealous.

There were plenty of other Matrix-referencing looks to take in on last night’s red carpet, too, from Priyanka Chopra’s glitzy retrofuturistic Halpern dress with a thigh-high split, to Jada Pinkett-Smith’s billowing scarlet Giambattista Valli gown. (According to her Instagram, a nod to the movie’s “red pill,” naturally.) Still, it was Moss’s look that shone brightest—quite literally, with all those dazzling sequins—and offered the most ingenious, red-carpet-ready interpretation of the film’s aesthetic.
