When it ain’t broke, there’s no need to fix it. At least that’s what Sarah Crawford of Broma Bakery believes. The bakery blogger reminded her 519,000 IG followers of a 2021 post that saved the dessert tray this past Christmas and just may do the same this upcoming holiday season. This easy crowd pleaser? Snickerdoodle Blondies with bourbon.
The recipe is as simple as it looks, using everyday pantry (and liquor cabinet) items, including unsalted butter, granulated sugar, egg, flour, salt, and cinnamon. One special ingredient, cream of tartar, is really the most important — which Crawford credits for bringing rise to the brownies and the characteristically tangy Snickerdoodle-y flavor. The final step features a splash of bourbon whiskey, a sugar-cinnamon sprinkle on top, and a quick bake in the oven, before you have yourself the perfect blondie.
“I know it’s cookie season, but blondies are a lazy girl’s best friend. They are super chewy, perfect for a crowd, and so easy to make,” she wrote on her blog. These beauties take roughly 45 minutes from start to finish and taste incredible when you snack on them warm.
If they last that long (which they won’t), you can keep them on your counter for up to four days or freeze them in a sealed baggie for up to three months. And don’t be afraid to make them your own. “If you’re feeling adventurous, add some butterscotch or chocolate chips to the batter to take it up a notch,” she wrote. “I bet that’d taste amazing.”
